Mini-Sodes, Blu-Ray and Top 5s

Things are heating up here at Nerdfire productions. Luke is continuing to put out some great episodes featuring his top and bottom lists of movies including the top 5 movies that you would recommend someone else watching.

Episode 7 of the Nerdfire Podcast is out and kicking. Walsh and Kevin discuss the benefits of 3-D and blu-ray in the theaters and in your own homes. Be sure to tune in next week (yes we are going to be taking Nerdfire weekly) for Special Guest host and Walsh's comic idol Josh Howard (author or Dead @17 and Lost Books of Eve). If you have any questions for Josh post below.

POW WOW just posted Mini-Sode #2 where the Nerdfire crew teams up with podcasting friends Apsana (Sounds Criminal Podcast) and Skolnick (Warcraft Less Traveled) to run the starting Goblin and Worgan zones and share their thoughts on these new questing areas and the effects of these changes in WOW. (Pictures from the runs are soon to come.)

T-Mogg the Bubble Fish Contest!!!!

We have had some great submissions so far to the T-Mogging contest going on until the end of February below are some of the T-mogg sets from the POW WOW crew

Jaybils (Joe) Phd. Pepper (Kevin)

Burninate (Silent John) Oldscratch (Kevin)

Servers down for repair and now we are full steam ahead!!!!!

With the lightning reflexes of a cat (that sits around the house all day waiting to be fed) Walsh jumps to the rescue of our podcast servers and shuts them down before the security was breached and we lost everything. While Walsh was able to keep the current episodes that we had available for download we could not up load or post anything on the servers until everything was reset and recoded. I have no idea what that means but Walsh assured me that over the last couple weeks he has been working really hard and was pissed about the whole situation.

On a happy note we are back and great things are happening all over Nerdfire Productions!

Target Audience podcast has many great episodes in the wings, and the latest one posted talks about a new Pixar movie that is going straight to DVD/Bluray?! Listen to find out more.

Episode 35 of the POW WOW podcast "Hipster WOW players" went live last night and we cover everything from No Blizzcon, Nekkid bull runs, and or course reasons why we suck. Joining us is our Alliance frenemy (Is that how you spell it?) Apsana and the ever silent "Silent" John.

Episode 34 of POW WOW

We are recording the 34th episode of POW WOW tonight with guest host CJ. Since I don't write the show notes I have no idea what the name of the episode might be but be sure to check it out. Also for those of you who read the Blog I am giving you guys a head start. Thanks to the generousity of one of our listeners and guild mates Highsammy and Tealme we have TWO loot cards to give away of "Bloat the Bubble Fish" (featured below). Since Highsammy and Tealme are part of my T-Mogg crew we thought that it would be appropriate to have a contest of T-mogging. The two best screen shots of your T-mogg set will receive the cards and codes!!!!!!! I will say that thinking outside the Tier sets will earn you some extra points!!!!!!!!

In the New Year!!!!

Man the holidays sure kicked our butts, some call it a vacation personally I am very happy to be back at my quiet job of teaching middle schoolers but I digress. We just posted Episode 33 of the POW WOW podcast: The Return of Silent John. John thankfully had a different work schedule during the holidays and was able to join us again. Also some good news from Walsh he will be getting a new job soon with regular hours (not starting at 3am) and with this we are hoping to start up again the Nerdfire podcast with more guests and shorter more frequent episodes (We don't mean it like that Blizzard fans).

Mean while on the Target audience front Luke challenges guest host Kelly to a resolution of movies. Listen in to see what movies they are requiring each other to watch!!!!

For the Alliance!

Three words that you probably thought that you would never read on this blog, but here they are. We at Nerdifre Productions are not defecting or anything that drastic but we did have some Alliance ambassadors on Episode 29. Skolnick from the insanely popular Podcast Warcraft Less Traveled and his guild mate and friend of the show Apsana from the Sounds Criminal podcast joined us for some lively discussions about Warcraft news and the conflict between our respective factions. Check out the great cast that is live right now!

POW WOW Episode 28 and more

Going live today is Episode 28 of the POW WOW podcast! Please post below any comments, questions or contributions that you would like us to read on the show or answer.

Also since the recording of the show there have been some changes to the Patch notes and two things have popped up that I did not see coming. There have been buffs to DK tanks and bear Druids!!!!!!! Bears get 10% (now 20%) more Stamina when in Bear mode and Death Knights get 25% more armor (now 55%)! That is really going to help smooth out the DK damage intake so that they don't play the mana sponge and I have to say the melee DPSers aren't going to be happy trying to take down a Blood DK flag carrier in BGs :)

Here is my question for the community. Do you think these changes are going to be enough to make DK and Bear tanks viable in 4.3? Are these changes just a bandaid until they can do the major surgery required in 5.0.1?

Great time to be a Geek

A coupel things that have been around that I would like to speak about.

First off if you are a Starcraft fan I came across an epic battle from the Nvidea tournament that is going on right now. Follow the linked video below to have your mind blown

www.youtube.com/watch?v=rR9PtJzA3w8

Also a huge grats to those people out there who have gotten a chance to be a part of the Diablo 3 Beta. I have seen the videos on youtube that people have posted playing the game and for the most part I like the classes but I am going to turn up my nose at a small thing. It looks and seems like plays, exactly like Diablo 2. Now I know that you are going to say. "Kevin, Diablo 2 played just like Diablo 1 and you were cool with it! So quick your complaining" I know, I know, but there wasn't about 11 years between Diablo 1 and 2, I don't know what I was expecting from this game but it jut seems like more of the same as what we had with a huge graphics upgrade. The story better be freakin rediculous and the new class the msot stellar thing ever to justify the wait, because if they are not I would have expected this kind of a game about 8 years ago.
If you got in on the Diablo 3 Beta I would love to talk to you about your impressions because I know there is a huge difference to watching a game on Youtube and actually playing the game myself.

We are going to be recording POW WOW episode 25 tomorrow (Friday) so alot of the new stuff from WOWI am going to be talking about on the show, but if there is anything that you would like me to add to the show notes or any points, quips, or suck moments that you would like to share please send them to our email powwow@nerdfireproductions.com or drop them into the comments below.

Noob in the Craft featuring Walsh and a guest will be cominig out tomorrow or late tonight so be looking for that!!!!!!

In the latest episode I predicted that the nerf to Firelands would go boss by boss over the next serveral weeks before 4.3 drops. I was wrong. Int he last day or so it has been released that all of Firelands was nerfed to the tune of 15% to 25% in both normal and heroic modes. So go in there and get those kills!!!!!!! more details about what changes they made in the next POW WOW.

Min/Max Time: Decked to the Nines

I am going to be posting here the articles that I write for the Overraided Blog. Check it out and comment below.

Today’s article is going to be breaking a little from the norm of maximizing your new gear, experience and financial gain in comparison with time. Today I am going to delve into one of the most captivating parts of the 4.3 news that we have heard so far, Transmogrification (here on referred to as Transmog or Mogging if I get truly lazy).

I have been inspired to write this from the discussion that I and the other hosts of the POW W.O.W podcast had last night while recording. Since hearing of this new ability coming up in the patch I always thought of it in the light of I am going to make my character look as purely epic as possible. I will go back to Black Temple on my Paladin and get the Bulwark shield off of Illidan. Travel to Naxx and get the axe “Last Laugh” from Kel’Thusad. Go into the Scarlet Monastery and find the chest piece that looks like their tabard…..You get the ideaJ. While we were talking about the “epic” gear that you could go back and farm Joe threw out a mind blowing idea. What if you make all your gear look like level 6 grey gear. Make that 2-handed mace from Firelands look like “The Mallet”? Think about the Role Player’s dream to not only be able to sport the epic gear to run instances, but do it looking like you are decked to the nines in Bloodsail Buccaneer gear. You could have an entire raid in tuxes and evening gowns. The hilarity and options span soooo far past that of “I want to look like Tier 2”. Let your creativity do its worst/best.

Now I know that this is a lot to process right now but keep a couple things in mind if you are like me and need to kill raid bosses to get the gear you need.

1. Atlas Loot is your friend, it’s a library of all the gear in Warcraft…use it

2. Some raids can be soloed figure out which ones and get it done

3. Some raids you must have a group. Kealthas cannot be soloed (not that I know of). Less is more when it comes from grouping, but make sure that you bring as many as you truly need.

4. When you group tell people which items you have on “reserve” nothing is more painful than losing a roll on the one piece of gear that you wanted from BT

5. Some fights cannot be won by brute force. Lady Vash is still a raid killer because people don’t know the mechanics, read the strats before you rush in

Follow these steps of finding, optimizing your grouping, reserving the gear and knowing the fight and you will get your toon looking as “Perfect” as you want in a very short amount of time.

P.S To those of you crafters that can make fun RP clothes, get the old school mats and start crafting…It could be worth a lot come 4.3

Post what gear you are going to get or a screen shot of the look that you want for your toon. The "Best" Look gets a sign Tony Washington print!!!!!!!
